Gabby

Gabby came to live with us on March 19, 2003. She had been living at the Park Rapids vet’s office and they were thinking of making her the office cat if they couldn’t find someone to adopt her. She came from the Lake Belle Taine area and had been living outside with her sister and brother. They apparently belonged to someone that had left the area. Gabby was rescued by some nice people who took her to the vet. They knew we were looking for a cat so they called us and we drove over to see her. She was just under a year old and still had a lot of kitten instincts. Her name came from the fact that she was a real talker.

Gabby loves to climb ladders. Here we see her at the top of a ten-foot ladder in our great room. She doesn’t have any trouble climbing up the steps and looks down as if to say, "Look at me! I’m way up here at the very top."

Since Gabby wasn’t quite a year old when she arrived she wanted to play with other cats. The only one she had to play with was Snowball. But since he is over ten years older he wasn’t that interested in kitten play. They do interact from time to time but because of their age difference it isn’t all that often. Snowball seems to accept Gabby but wants her to keep her distance.

Gabby is shown as she prepares to solve a problem in smybolic logic set up on our pawbox. Then we see Gabby in one of her boxes. Even when the box is too small she like to curl up inside.

Gabby loves water faucets and sinks. Drinking out of a faucet is a favorite activity.

Gabby meets Miss Boots

On March 10, 2006, Gabby got to meet her sister, Miss Boots. As I mentioned above Gabby was one of 3 cats abandoned near Lake Belle Taine, near Park Rapids. Austin & Mary Stibbe had rescued Gabby in 2003 and turned her over to the vet. Later Gabby’s sister became the Stibbe’s cat and was named Miss Boots. Their brother was called Tom and remained outside. He was around the Belle Taine area for awhile but hasn’t been seen for quite some time. Nancy and I called up the Stibbe’s and told them Gabby was having her regular vet visit and did they want to come over and see her?

Miss Boots wasn’t very excited about the visit. It was hard to get her out of the travel carrier.

About as close as they came to interacting was looking at each other from either side of a chair that was in the vet’s waiting room.
